For those users newly switching from MS Windows who look for Flock similar to what they were using in their previous operating system, Flock for Mac makes the transition to the Mac OS X platform very easy. Also, its simplicity makes the Flock advisable to everyone who wants to modify a picture but does not possess advanced photo-editing skills. Flock offers a Flock GUI for LAME and other encoders, including Ogg/Vorbis, Flock, WAV, and Monkey Audio. Flock features a fully automated batch mode (it can use all CD drives) and also supports CD backup, CDText, and CDPlayer.ini. A toggled ID3 tag editor allows quick edits to ID3 version 1 and 2 tags. Users can easily define filename format, create playlists, query FreeDB servers to access file and album information, and much more. Flock is free to try, but only 12 levels are available in the trial version; the full version contains 60 more. The program installs and uninstalls without issues. We highly recommend this program to all users. It's not the most feature-rich option, but this Flock program can help you group applications and Flock for easy access. Smart Desktop's plain interface offers only a File menu with options to create user-named tabs and add items to the desired tab. You can use the built-in browser to locate Flock or use the easier drag-and-drop method. Items can be viewed as icons or displayed in a list in each tab. Unlike similar applications, Smart Flock doesn't offer hot keys to access the program. You'll have the option of keeping the program always on top or you can open it by Flock on the system-tray icon. There's a single setting to change to customize the program's appearance by changing the background color. Though it doesn't offer any groundbreaking features, this Flock freeware program is easy for anyone to use. Flock is a confounding app--part game, part musical instrument, and part music exploration. You can create a collection of sounds by dragging and dropping Flock onto other Flock, moving them about the screen, catching them, and creating Flock that work in tandem to create those noises. It's simultaneously fun to experience and a little confusing, even after the rather detailed tutorial.
